Review: Sinful colors nail polish & nail art.

I have a whole hoard of nail polish and I'm one of those girls who changes the colour of her nails on a weekly basis. I've recently found a fab new brand of nail polish, Sinful Colors, from across the pond, America.

You'll only find the brand in a large Boots store, situated on their own stand by the usual brands of English cosmetics. I'm really impressed with the plethora of colours on offer - literally every single colour you'll covet, they'll stock it.

I bought the 'cream pink' shade which is a gorgeous neon. Just one coat will deliver an amazingly bright colour that stays on for over two weeks. At around £2.75 for a 15ml pot, it's definitely worth every penny.

Lipstick cats with lipstick hats - Selfridges, Oxford Street, London.

I just had to share this sweet picture with you all - Paul & Joe lipsticks in the shape of cats, wearing hats.

Seriously, HOW CUTE?

I love make-up and I love cats even more. Just when I thought make-up couldn't get any better, eh?

All three shades are next on my list to spice up my ever expanding cosmetics bag and red, pink and nude are all timeless, classic colours that never date. Selfridges have done it again.

Can't wait to get my paws on them...

Review: 2true eyeliner, Superdrug.

I've been using Superdrug's 2true Effortless Liquid Eyeliner for as long as I can remember so I thought I would take an opportunity to rave about how fantastic a product it is!

The application brush is small to hold which makes applying the liner extremely easy, precise and mess free. You'll be able to create that 60's look with one sweep of the brush in seconds. What's more, the liner does not budge all day. I've often woken up from a night out having forgotten to take my make-up off to find my eyeliner perfectly intact. The jet black pigment will enhance and frame your eyes to give you a make-up artist worthy finish.

It's a seriously impressive product and at just £1.99 a pop, seriously worth buying! I don't know what I would to if Superdrug discontinued or changed the product so I  think I'll stock up. As should you!

I give the 2true eyeliner in black a brilliant 10/10. The product also comes in a waterproof version which I'm just as enamoured with.

My first M.A.C counter experience

I'd never been to a MAC store before as I've always been quite intimidated by the idea of perfectly done up girls plastering me with cosmetics I absolutlely adore but definitely cannot afford! Until last week when I became fed up of applying my usual Rimmel eyeshadow only to look in the mirror a couple of hours later to find it had disappeared...

A friend mentioned the super quality of MAC make-up and how it stays on even after a long day at work, an intense night of clubbing, and unfortunately for her skin, having woken up in it the night after. So I decided to pay the MAC ladies a visit at their store in Westfield Stratford. I was put on a waiting list and sadly had to wait for half an hour for a make-up consultation. Even though this was a bit of a chore, it confirmed that MAC is popular! I asked for help finding a gold eyeshadow as I know the colour suits my skin tone but the girl who was carrying out my consultation seemed to offer me more daring shades - baring in mind I wanted something for both the day and night - a subtle yet glamorous shade.

After finally picking a colour myself, I had it applied and loved the bronze-gold shimmer in 'Woodwinked' which I coupled with a darker shade, 'Shadowy Lady' to create a smoky eye effect in the outer corners.
Even though the wait was long and the customer service nothing to rave about, I am so pleased with my eyeshadows that I'm even applying my make-up on my sluggish days in. It stays on all day, is easy to take off with a make-up wipe and has just the right amount of shimmer to make my eyes stand out and sparkle on a night out. A downside is the price - at £12.00 a pop the small eyeshadows don't come cheap. But if you're into your make-up and don't mind paying for quality then MAC is the right brand for you.

I rate the consultation and customer service a 6/10 and the eyeshadows themselves an 8/10.

Pleased!

Maybe she's born with it...

Whilst coming back to Cardiff on the coach yesterday, I noticed that the woman next to me, (she must have been in her twenties), wasn't wearing any make-up. 'What's this?!', I thought, 'BARE EYELASHES?!'. I then looked to the other side of me to see another girl completely bare faced. Terrified I had entered 'no-make-up-armageddon' and that someone was standing by, ready to attack me with a face wipe, I started back aghast. I suppose a part of me was slightly...horrified at the lack of make-up! All girls should wear make-up. It makes you prettier and therefore more successful. Or does it?

I started wearing make-up at a very young age, around eleven and by the time I had started my first year of secondary school, I was already wearing a full face - mascara, foundation, eyeliner and lip gloss. I just remember staring in the mirror with my mum standing next to me as we tried to suss out the best possible way to get rid of those dreaded spots! 'You'll have to start wearing foundation to cover them up', my mum suggested. I thought nothing of it as a thick layer of foundation, that most certainly did not match my skin tone, was applied to my face. And ever since that day I have been wearing a full face. I admit I have probably been getting it wrong for the last couple of years. I did glow an orangey hue all throughout secondary school, trying to find the perfect colour match for my skin. (It's NARS' Punjab, incase you're wondering). Then there was the bright pink lipstick my aunty gave me: 'It's Chanel! You have to wear it!', she squealed, even though it made me look like a Nicki Minaj wannabe.

Despite these make-up mis-haps, I enjoy putting make-up on - it makes me feel so much better about myself. I wouldn't DREAM of going out without having rummaged through my tardis of a cosmetics bag. I have tried for years to find the best mascara for my lashes, that fabulous lipgloss which lasts all day. To be honest, I even slap on a full face even if I am inside my room, revising all day, just because it makes me feel a touch more comfortable. I feel as though I can approach people without feeling like they are laughing at my blemishes or wondering why my eyes are so small.

The whole hour I spend 'putting on my face' as they say, gets me compliments - 'That eyeliner makes your eyes look so big and beautiful!' and 'Are those your real eyelashes? They are? Wow.' Without make-up, I am just plain, old, boring me, with ordinary eyes and non existent cheek bones. But who am I to say that you can't be happy and feel confident about yourself without wearing make-up? The two girls that were sitting next to me were living proof of that. One was engaged, admiring her gorgeous engagement ring and planning the colour scheme for her wedding. The other was on the phone to her boyfriend, talking about how she had managed to get 'the job she'd always wanted'. These girls prove that you don't need makeup to be successful and happy in life, so why do I still cower at the thought of stepping out of the door without having consulted my bag of slap, first?

I'm not sure if much can be done to change my thoughts on make-up or if I am already too far gone and unable to escape the evil clutches of Barry M. But I do know that wearing make-up makes ME happy. I definitely have respect for girls who don't give a crap about concealer but that doesn't mean I'll be following in their footsteps any time soon. So, if you do see a random girl in the street, brandishing a bronzing brush and preaching about the new colour-stay lippy, it will most likely be yours truly...
